Unfortunately most people do not succeed at losing weight. It is actually easy to lose weight if you do everything right–Actually hard if you don’t. Losing weight requires a lot of effort, self-disclipline and vigilance on your part.
Consider these cold hard facts about weight loss :
1. One pound equals 3500 calories. If you cut back or burn 500 calories per day you will lose one pound per week.
2. Health issues can interfere with weight loss. Thyroid disorders can mess with your weight loss- no matter what you are doing- i.e. diet and exercise.
3. People that don’t keep track of calories usually fail at weight loss. How many times have you heard someone say – I haven’t eaten anything all day? Only to realize that the person has had a nibble here, a snack here that add up to major calories. Keep a food journal.
4. People that eat out all the time have trouble losing weight. Unless you can show extreme self-disclipline- i.e. eating 1/2 portions and taking food home – you will probably not lose any weight if you eat out a lot. Restaurant meals are usually high calorie pits.
5. As you get older your body starts burning less calories. By age 40, you burn about 100 calories less per day, by age 50 about 200 calories. Unless you compensate by reducing your intake or adding exercise– you will be gaining weight.
6. Lifestyle changes. If you are sedentary most of the time- you will have trouble losing weight. Get up and get moving. Burn off those extra calories!
In short, weight loss tips and diets can help you to lose weight and more importantly keep it off. After all, why do you want to go to all that trouble again to lose weight?
