How Much Does the Nutrisystem Select Program Cost?
By Ava Alderman

I recently heard from someone who was interested in the nutrisystem select program. She wanted to be able to eat the frozen gourmet meals, but wasn't able to find any information about the cost of the program. In the following article, I'll go over the pricing for the nutrisystem select program and will also tell you a little bit about how it works.

Nutrisystem Select Works Like The Basic Program, But The Food Is Arguably Of A Higher Quality: In short, this program is called "select" because the food is said to be of gourmet or restaurant quality. There are some very nice additions and meal options in this program including french toast, pancakes, ice cream options, alfredo shrimp, glazed turkey, and some very nice panini, melt, and wrap choices.

But, even though some of the food options are different, the basic idea isn't. The select plan works in the same way as the other plans (like the basic, silver, vegetarian, or diabetic.) You eat the diet meals five times per day and add in fresh fruit, vegetables or dairy at each meal.

The Pricing On Nutrisystem's New Select Line Of Meals: The company does sell all of its foods individually, but this isn't how most people purchase them. Most people will buy their meals as part of a monthly package as this works out to be much cheaper in the end. And, there's never any fees for membership or for counseling. There's also not a commitment. You basically just buy the food while you are on the diet and when you're ready to stop, you just stop ordering the food.

The select package is a bit more expensive than the other plans. But, the additional costs is expected since the food is considered to be the best that the plan has to offer. The base cost of the select plan is around $360 per month for women and about $30 more than that for men (or around $380.) If you go with the auto delivery option (which can be a good idea if you're going to be on nutrisystem for more than a few months,) then you get free shipping. If you decide to go month to month without auto shipping, then you are charged for the shipping costs. This usually runs around $15.

To put this in perspective, the basic women's plan is around $299. So, you are paying about a $60 premium per month for the premium or "select" foods. However, many people justify this quite easily. They will tell you that having more tasty options that they want to eat ensures that they actually enjoy and stick with the process. And, $60 is really only $2 dollars each day. Since you're eating 5 meals per day, this really is pocket change in terms of the difference in the costs of each meal. You can also sometimes find coupons that will bring some of these costs and totals down.
