Day 3-10 of 42 Day
Diet and Fitness Program

Day 3-10 summary:

Daily calorie intake for days 3-10 remained from 1,300 calories to about 1,700 calories.  Exercise for these days includes 2-3 mile fast walks, several bike rides and 1-hour classes of Tae Kwon Do.

Overall, the program is going well.  I feel fairly alert and active most of the day.  Every night I take a multi-vitamin and a vitamin C.  Also, I try to drink a lot of water during the daytime, along with at least 1 cup of green tea.

One menu item that I can't seem to live without is pizza.  Pizza does have a lot of calories in it.  So, if I indulge the way I really want to, the calories can add up really fast.  Some options I have tried to implement is to have 1 slice of pizza, along with a diet coke, and then to leave the kitchen.

If I let everyone else finish off the pizza, I will not be tempted to eat any leftovers.  If there are leftovers, I wrap them in aluminum foil (so that you can't see what is inside) and put them immediately in the refrigerator.  I have noticed that when I leave any leftover pizza in the box on the kitchen table, I will tend to walk buy and half a slice or two more.

Other fast food items that I frequently crave are Wendy's single hamburger meals and Chipotle steak burritos.  Both of these menu items pack a lot of calories and fat.  I try not to deprive myself of these items, but instead do some planning in advance.  For example, if I plan to get a Chipotle steak burrito (estimated around 1,000 calories) I will plan to eat a very light breakfast and just a few small snacks for lunch.  Then around 3:00 p.m. I will get the Chipotle.  It is so filling that I do not need to eat anything else for the rest of the day.

In the end, losing weight is about good management of your calorie intake combined with exercise.  You don't need to deprive yourself completely of everything you enjoy eating.  Just manage the calories during the day so that it doesn't push your calorie intake for the day off the chart.
